"Bully" for Port Ludlow
Subject
United States Sanitary Commission
Description
This 1862 article details local contributions to the Soldier's Relief Fund, subscribed from Jefferson County. Since the Washington Standard editor Murphy specifically names "Gen. Abstract
General [William Winlock] Miller has just turned in the subscription list to the "Soldier's Relief Fund," or the U.S. Sanitary Commission, of donors from Port Ludlow, Jefferson County and it added up to $1,665.00. Port Orchard also contributed a praiseworthy amount. Oregon, editor Murphy writes, must be careful or Washington Territory will surpass her contributions.
