Abstract
Governor Pickering describes the events he witnessed in Washington City [DC] on the night of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, the transport of the body to Springfield, and subsequent burial. Pickering voices his uncertainty about the new political situation, and his general satisfaction with most of what he accomplished in Washington City.
