Description

The proposed lines would run from Fort Hall to Walla Walla and to Bannock City, in Idaho. The telegraph line was completed to the Pacific Northwest during the Civil War, and made the news of the east far more rapidly available and far more immediate than previously.

Abstract

The Washington Statesman reports that a bill has passed the U.S. Congress that will expand telegraph service in eastern Washington Territory and Idaho Territory, from Fort Hall.
