Description

This is an interesting look into Idaho's newspaper history, and includes a warning to the Lewiston Age's owners concerning Idaho's particular brand of Republican apointees.

Idaho's "unconditionals" are "liars, forgers and swindlers" - the Statesman editor is here referring to those Unionists/Republicans who insist on "unconditional" surrender by the Confederate States of America, also known as "subjugation."

Abstract

The Washington Statesman editor publishes one in a series of stories on the fate of the Lewiston Golden Age; here the whole "office" is returning by wagon to Lewiston from Boise City.
