Abstract
Hunter was camped along the Snake River with 40-50 packers and teamsters when they heard news of Lincoln’s assassination. One man shouted “Hurrah for the man that killed him” and other such comments. Hunter brandished his gun and demanded and got an apology. He realized nearly all present were Republicans.
